The Difference between Wheat Straw and Plastic

Sep 02,2022 | shopwithgreen

Today we will discuss the distinctions between wheat straw and plastic, as well as how to distinguish wheat straw from plastic:

First, let's talk about their differences:

  1. Hardness: Wheat straw dinnerware has a high hardness, a hard texture, is not easily deformed, and can be recycled many times. Ordinary plastic dinnerware is less durable and soft, and the user will deform with little force, and the number of uses is restricted.
  2. Heating: When typical plastic dinnerwareis burned, it emits an unpleasant gas that is toxic and harmful to the human body. Plastics can potentially degrade into hazardous components when exposed to high temperatures. Wheat straw fiber is a natural material that contains no hazardous substances and does not develop toxins under high temperatures.
  3. Appearance: The dinnerware made of wheat straw is meticulously crafted, elegant, and brown in color. Ordinary plastic dinnerwareis poor in craftsmanship and often white.

Then I'll show you how to identify them:

  1. Smell the odor and place the two types of dinnerware in a container filled with  boiling water. Wheat straw does not have a strong odor and just has a light plant odor. Even after numerous washes and disinfected many times, there is no pungent plastic odor.
  2. Set it on fire. In general, when burned, dinnerware made of pure plastic material emits a very intense and unpleasant odor, while those constructed of wheat straw emit a less unpleasant and pungent odor.
  3. Hardness. Dinnerware made of wheat straw has a high hardness, a firm texture, is not easily deformed, and can be recycled several times. Ordinary plastic dinnerware is less durable and soft, and the user will deform with little force, and the number of times of use is restricted.
